Find Movement You Love By Trying These 3 Hacks

Unsure how to find movement you love? Discovering ways to be active and enjoying it is easier than you think. Movement should inspire fun, freedom, and focus.

The importance of finding movement you love
Why is it important to find movement you love, anyway? Shouldn’t we just buck up and head to the gym every day to get the results we want?

I’ll start by saying that for some people, spending time at the gym every day is an enjoyable experience – and I tip my hat to those people. I, however, am definitely not one of them. It’s important to find something that you actually like doing – for one, you’re way more likely to be consistent. And secondly, the goal here is not to punish ourselves with exercise. The goal is to show our bodies love by taking care of them.

Be willing to try anything once
The key, if you want to find movement you love, is to be open minded. Be willing to try anything once – whether that’s taking a walk around the block, turning on a Pilates YouTube video, or using your canned goods as weights. There are so many free options to try out.

When you are trying a new activity, check in with yourself. How does it make you feel? Did you enjoy yourself? Did it make you feel alive?

Channel your inner child
If you’ve tried a few things and didn’t find anything inspiring, that’s ok. Think back to when you were a kid – what physical activities did you like to do? Did you love to skip rope, play soccer, or dance? Don’t be afraid to channel your inner child, put on some Spice Girls, and just dance it out.

It’s ok to suck

If you’ve always wanted to try boxing, try it. If you’ve held back because you didn’t know where to start, or didn’t want to look dumb, let me take that self-limit and smash it for you. Everyone who is good at something was once a beginner – so if it’s something you truly want to try, don’t let ‘sucking’ hold you back. Remove any pressure to be ‘good’ and just go for it.
